Confidence & Agility Mini Workshop

Welcome to our Confidence & Agility Mini Workshop! This engaging and interactive session is designed to introduce you and your dog to the exciting world of agility training while boosting their confidence, coordination, and overall well-being.

At ABT, we believe that agility is more than just a fun activity—it’s an excellent way to build your dog’s confidence, body awareness, physical fitness, and mental stimulation. Whether your dog is nervous about new experiences, highly energetic, or somewhere in between, this workshop is a fantastic opportunity to develop essential skills in a positive and supportive environment.

Why Agility Training?

Agility training isn’t just for competitive sport—it’s a valuable tool for every dog, regardless of breed, age, or size. Some key benefits include:

Confidence & Agility

This mini workshop is ideal for beginners and those looking to introduce agility as a fun way to enhance their dog’s training and confidence.

What You’ll Learn in the Workshop

Our Confidence & Agility Mini Workshop covers the fundamental aspects of agility training and how it contributes to your dog’s overall development. We focus on four key areas:

1. Skill Training

Skill training involves teaching your dog how to navigate agility equipment safely and effectively. During this session, we introduce obstacles such as tunnels, jumps, and weave poles, helping dogs build trust in their abilities.

  • Beginner-friendly guidance on how to approach each obstacle.
  • Teaching verbal cues for different obstacles.
  • Encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving.
  • Gradually reducing food lures while reinforcing positive behavior.

2. Strength Training

Agility requires both speed and strength. Strength training helps condition your dog’s muscles, allowing them to move more efficiently and prevent injuries.

  • Simple exercises like beg, crawl, and controlled jumps to build core strength.
  • Hills and incline training for muscle development.
  • Introduction to safe, low-impact weight-bearing exercises.

3. Body Awareness

Many dogs lack awareness of their back legs, which can make agility more challenging. This portion of the workshop focuses on helping your dog become more aware of their entire body and movements.

  • Teaching dogs how to move their back legs independently.
  • Exercises such as stepping through ladders, balancing on low obstacles, and controlled turns.
  • Helping dogs navigate tight spaces and varying surfaces with confidence.

4. Endurance Training

Agility requires stamina! Building endurance helps dogs perform at a high level for longer periods, preventing fatigue and increasing overall fitness.

  • Short bursts of agility sequences to gradually build stamina.
  • Controlled running and jumping drills.
  • Teaching dogs to pace themselves and maintain focus under longer durations of activity.
